Cloth treated as a drawing surface. The kalam, a bamboo pen bound with hair, carries fermented iron liquor and natural dye across a Mangalgiri ground, laying down outline first and colour after. Between stages the cloth is washed, sunned and treated with myrobalan, so the palette arrives slowly rather than all at once.

The narrative panels on the pallu are drawn freehand. Their spacing shifts slightly across the width, which is how you read a painted piece against a printed one.

Smooth and cool, with a fine cotton grain underfoot of the silk
Care
First wash dry clean.
Thereafter hand wash separately in cold water with a mild soap nut solution. Dry in shade.
Natural dyes will soften over years; this is expected.

Painted panels checked against the artist's reference. Slight bleed at two outline junctions on the lower border, characteristic of iron liquor on silk cotton and stable after washing.
